Dr. Nease will teach various liposuction techniques: routine, laser-assisted and power-assisted. Dr. Deal will teach physicians about the Brazilian Butt Lift (large volume fat transfer to the buttock). "While it is always an honor to be asked to speak for the advancement of Cosmetic Surgery education, this event is a special occasion to be able to demonstrate safe and effective techniques on a cadaver in front of many esteemed national and international colleagues" says Dr. Nease.

Any surgeon interested in new and established techniques in breast and body contouring are encouraged to attend. "Never stop learning...our patients should not only appreciate this from their surgeons but they should expect it!" Dr. Deal reminds his own fellow who is training at Southern Surgical Arts this year. The three-day cadaver dissection workshop is an extensive hands-on cadaver workshop, which features world-renowned faculty who are experts in cosmetic surgery. It will be presented at Saint Louis University, one of the top venues in the world for surgical education workshops. Cellulaze, Cellulite Treatment in Chattanooga

Posted by Southern Surgical Arts on Mar 20, 2012 6:03:00 PM
Cynosure announced its Cellulaze Workstation for treatment of cellulite. Cellulaze promises to deliver long-lasting results after only one short treatment. This is based on clinical research that shows that the results lasted two years. The best results are for women who are not significantly overweight but have mild to moderate cellulite -- particularly on their thighs.

Cellulite has been an ongoing battle for many women. "Most women are hesitant to have any cellulite reduction procedure because of failed promises in the past," said Dr. Carey Nease. "If Cellulaze can truly deliver the long-lasting results, then patients and physicians alike will be happy!" Southern Surgical Arts currently has the Triactive laser that treats cellulite, which was the latest and greatest technology a few years ago. Patients have to come in for 6-8 treatments to see a result as compared to Cellulaze, the one treatment option.

When Southern Surgical Arts ask their Facebook fans what they thought about Cellulaze, the response was positive. "We will wait and see how patients on a national level respond the the new technology," said Dr. Chad Deal. "Although we provide the latest laser technology, we also want to make sure it will deliver results for our patients."

If you are interested in cellulite reduction, visit us on Facebook and let us know. We'd love to hear your feedback.

Two-Way Communication Embraced for Safer Care

Posted by Southern Surgical Arts on Oct 12, 2011 6:09:00 PM
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) launched an initiative with the Ad Council to encourage clinicians and patients to engage in effective two-way communication to ensure safer care and better health outcomes. At Southern Surgical Arts, we understand the importance of communicating the risks and benefits of cosmetic surgery with our patients. And we support the agency's efforts to help develop questions that help the patient make a good decision when choosing cosmetic surgery.

Here are a few questions that the agency suggests you ask in their interactive question builder. We believe the following questions are great conversation starters with your surgeon:
What kind of surgery do I need?
Have you done this surgery before?
Will I need anesthesia?
How long will it take me to recover?
What will happen after the surgery?

Dr. Nease and Dr. Deal have built a practice that focuses on the patient. This includes giving each patient the time they need to make a good decision about their cosmetic surgery procedure. "My goal is to answer all the questions that a patient has about the procedure I recommend. This includes discussing what happens before, during and after the surgery," said Dr. Deal. "I, as well as our clinical staff are available to answer questions for our patients throughout the entire process."

Southern Surgical Arts loves to hear from happy patients. One of Dr. Deal's patient, Danielle Webb had this to say about our communication process, "I cannot thank Dr. Deal enough for the awesome job he did. I felt comfortable with the staff and Dr. Deal immediately. He answered my questions, explained everything...I was just completely at ease. The day of the surgery, the follow up appts...everyone has been great!!."

Likewise, a patient named Heather wrote on our Dr. Nease's Google Places page, "Dr. Nease and his staff are excellent and knowledgeable. They were always available to answer my questions (and I had a lot!). The care before and after my surgery was above and beyond what was required."

Do you have questions about a cosmetic surgery procedure? What's keeping you from asking Dr. Deal or Dr. Nease? Our in-office and online consultations are complimentary and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Improvements for the Neck and Jowl Using The Latest Cosmetic Surgery Techniques

Posted by Southern Surgical Arts on May 11, 2011 9:16:00 AM
James Koehler, MD, a Board-Certified Cosmetic Surgeon from Tulsa Surgical Arts recently wrote and article for Plastic Surgery Practice on Isolated Neck Rejuvenation and Submentoplasty. Dr. Koehler applies many of the latest facial rejuvenation techniques in his practice just as the surgeons at Southern Surgical Arts do. Carey Nease, MD, a Double Board-Certified Cosmetic Surgeon at Southern Surgical Arts uses laser technology to rejuvenate the neck and jowl area.  "Neck and jowl rejuvenation can be accomplished with laser lipolysis by removing the excess fat pads and heating of the undersurface of the skin.  The addition of the laser, when compared to tumescent liposuction, improves the outcome by generating more heat which results in more skin tightening than liposuction alone."  Dr. Nease also said laser liposuction is a quick, one-hour procedure with down time of only 3-5 days and very little pain, both during and after the procedure.  "Results can be dramatic when the right patient is selected (30's-40's).  This does not replace a full face and neck lift surgery when that is what is needed!"

At Southern Surgical Arts, Dr. Nease and Dr. Deal often combine the CO2 resurfacing laser with all face lift and facial rejuvenation procedures for enhanced results.  The CO2 laser improves skin texture, stimulates collagen and helps eliminate sun damage. The neck and jowl techniques combined with the skin resurfacing is called the Laser Face Lift. Dr. Nease is the pioneer of the Laser Face Lift and presented at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery's 2011 Annual Meeting in Phoenix this past January. If you are in your 30's and 40's and don't feel like you are ready for a traditional face lift, you might be a candidate for this procedure. We invite you to join us at our Chattanooga, Dalton or Calhoun office for a complimentary consultation with any of our surgeons! Call 423-266-3331 or 706-629-8622.

Below is a video testimonial of a patient who had the Lase Face Lift procedure.
