Non-Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation, DiVa, is Here

diva.pngWe recently added a breakthrough new technology at Southern Surgical Arts…DiVa by Sciton. Because the demand for cosmetic vaginal procedures has been growing steadily over the past few years, we were very interested in offering more options to our patients. DiVa is a revolutionary new treatment that uses the hybrid fractional laser technology developed for Halo, and we are finding it can greatly improve our patients’ comfort and quality of life.

Many women find that after childbirth, or as hormones begin to wane approaching or after menopause, their vaginal health is negatively impacted. With childbirth, tissues may be stretched or torn. While some women may return naturally to their pre-childbirth state, others experience permanent changes in skin tone, laxity, and condition. Women who have not had children also experience uncomfortable symptoms with aging.

Fortunately, DiVa provides a quick and effective treatment that means women no longer have to resign themselves to discomfort caused by vaginal changes.

During a DiVa resurfacing procedure, a qualified cosmetic surgeon will use the hybrid laser to treat the vaginal mucosa, stimulating the production of healthy new tissue. In essence, it’s very similar to the improvement seen in skin tone and texture in a facial laser rejuvenation procedure, only precisely targeted to treat the vaginal area effectively and uniformly. In the weeks following the procedure, collagen density is increased, as is skin thickness, elasticity and the production of natural lubrication.

Both women who have had children and those who have not have reported better lubrication following the procedure. Remarkably, both women who have had children and those who have not have also experienced a reduction in urinary incontinence symptoms as well. Further, some women get the benefit of tone and reported improvement in sexual satisfaction.

A DiVa treatment can be done in as little as 2-3 minutes, with slight to moderate discomfort during the procedure but no discomfort or downtime immediately afterward.  Depending on your condition and your treatment goals, your cosmetic surgeon may recommend two to three treatments, with three treatments being the norm.

If you are interested in learning more about how a DiVa procedure can improve your quality of life, please don’t feel shy or embarrassed to ask us about it. Our board-certified surgeons, Dr. Chad Deal, Dr. Carey Nease, and Dr. Vincent Gardner, are approachable and professional and are happy to answer any questions you might have.
