When it comes to our patients, we are always grateful when they decide to come to us. We realize that we aren’t the only practice and ultimately, it’s the patient’s decision that determines who they entrust to perform a specific procedure.

Glamour? Enchantment? Disguise? And that was only the beginning to this year’s “Spooktacular” event. You might say, it was the Masquerade of Masquerades. Guests began arriving at 5:00 dressed for an evening of fun and elegance.

Face Fall with Rejuvenated Skin!

Summer’s almost over and it’s time to put your best face forward for fall! Even when we try to be careful with our skin, consistently reapplying our sunscreen, wearing hats and seeking out shady spots, it’s hard to maintain constant vigilance. Skin gets exposed through our sun roofs, through the windows of our cars, after some time in the pool or at the beach, or even after sweating while gardening a bit too long.

This past Thursday, Southern Surgical Arts held a Grand Re-Opening of their newly remodeled Calhoun location. Patients and visitors had a chance to tour the updated office with its expanded services and state-of-the-art technology.

Every now and then, an innovation comes along in aesthetic surgery that is truly revolutionary. These rare inventions usually have a good deal of buzz and hype surrounding them, and they actually live up to every accolade they receive. We are excited to announce a new technology at Southern Surgical Arts that is the biggest step forward since the invention of breast implants and the use of botulinum toxin as a beauty tool: Introducing BodyTite.

Choosing a cosmetic surgeon is a decision that can’t be rushed. Once you know that you wish to have a certain cosmetic procedure, it’s time to start researching your options. This may include reading reviews, talking to friends who have had the procedure, meeting with cosmetic surgeons in person for a consultation, and viewing a surgeon’s before and after photos. There are many important questions you should ask prospective surgeons, but the most important may very well be: How much experience do you have with my particular procedure?

When it comes to experience, all surgeons are not created equal. You may find a surgeon who has a considerable amount of expertise in breast augmentation and other body work, but not much experience with facial surgery. Likewise, you may interview an outstanding facial surgeon who has more limited experience with the Brazilian Butt Lift or thighplasty.

Q: I am so confused about injectables. Is Botox a filler? If not, what is, and what is the difference between Botox and a filler?

As we age, it’s common to lose volume in our faces as well as experience a decrease in the tautness of our skin.  This loss in volume and increase in skin laxity causes the skin to droop, creating wrinkles, sagging jawlines and jowls as well as hollow cheeks and lower eye areas. With contributing factors like genetics, sun damage and smoking, this process may happen prematurely, leaving you looking older than your actual years.

Everyone knows that breast augmentation with silicone or saline implants is a great way to add fullness and volume to natural breasts. But did you know that if your implants are less than ten years old you can have your breasts “refreshed” without having new ones placed?
