Over the years, Dr. Nease has been an integral part of Southern Surgical Arts and we are appreciative of his efforts spanning the past 11 years.
Dr. Nease has focused on perfecting his skills in cutting-edge cosmetic surgery techniques along with embracing the most advanced technology. Along with Dr. Deal’s surgical expertise in body sculpting procedures and Dr. Gardner’s mastery of surgical vein treatment (which lead to the opening of The Vein Institute), Dr. Nease helped develop SSA into one of the Southeast’s premier cosmetic surgery practices.
Walking away from such a highly successful practice, an incredible team of surgeons, and countless patients whose lives he’s touched is bittersweet, but not sudden. “I have new opportunities to still do well but where I won’t have to work as much. I’ve been performing surgery five days a week for almost 20 years and I’m ready for a change.”
More downtime in general and quality time with his wife and adult children plays a big factor in this life-changing decision. “It will be nice to travel, my wife gets to go with me, we can go to New York for the weekend and I’ll work a day and then we can enjoy the city for a few days. My kids are older and a year from now we’ll be empty nesters, so it is nice to have that freedom and flexibility,” he says.
Dr. Nease says instructing surgical fellows at SSA in procedures on a day to day basis and interacting with his patients and staff – some of whom he has been with for 15 years – will be what he misses most of all. “It’s hard to leave, but it’s the right time for me,” he reflects. “I’m going to spend more time with family, travel with my wife, see the kids off to college, play some golf, scuba dive and go sailing. I haven’t done much travelling in the last 20 years; I couldn’t take the time because I was devoted to growing the practice. Now I can,” he smiles.
Please join the SSA family and wish Dr. Nease the best of luck in all of his new endeavors.
