Juvederm
This filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that aids hydration and adds volume. Juvederm is injected into the skin using a fine needle. The results are instantaneous and lasts up to one year. Juvederm is approved by the U.S. FDA and is proven to be safe for all skin types. The natural look and feel of Juvederm makes it extremely popular.
Restylane
Restylane is another cosmetic dermal filler that helps to add fullness and volume to the skin. This filler can eliminate moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. It also can be used in your lips to give them a fuller and more youthful appearance. While Restylane is also a form of hyaluronic acid, it does not contain any animal protein. As a result, this reduces the chances of allergic reaction to the filler and also reduces the possibility of transmission of animal-based diseases. The results of Restylane also are noticeable immediately and they last for about 6 months.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a dermal filler made up of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres that are suspended in an aqueous gel. Radiesse is known to stimulate production of collagen in your skin and over a period of time, the aqueous gel gets absorbed by your body. Radiesse gives instant results by adding volume to your face, but the other benefit is stimulating your body to produce collagen that helps to maintain the youthful appearance and elasticity of the skin. Radiesse is used for smile lines, marionette lines, corners of the mouth, chin wrinkles and pre-jowls. Typically, results last for about a year, but an vary from person to person.
Difference between Juvederm and Restylane
One of the most common question we answer is related to the difference between Juvederm and Restylane, as both are hyaluronic acid based. The hyaluronic acid that is present in Juvederm is a cross linked hyaluronic acid. This form of the acid tends to last longer compared to the acid form in Restylane. Juvederm tends to work better on deeper folds compared to Restylane, but both are hypoallergenic and help to draw water to the treated area to give it a fuller and more voluminous appearance.
Juvederm or Restylane can be reversed by using a substance known as hyaluronidase. However, this is a rare request as most of our patients are extremely satisfied with the results that last for up to 6 months.
Uses of Dermal Fillers
