Southern Surgical Arts is the first cosmetic surgery practice in Chattanooga, Tennessee and North Georgia to offer CelluSmooth, a simple, minimally invasive procedure for treating the root cause of cellulite. CelluSmooth, the newest Sciton laser developed in Palo Alto, CA, is a new minimally invasive technology designed to deliver laser energy to multiple areas of the body, such as thighs, buttocks and other areas of concern.

Minimally invasive procedures accounted for 82% (7.5 million) of cosmetic procedures performed in 2011. Dr. Deal, a board-certified cosmetic surgeon at Southern Surgical Arts, says, “Cellulite has been an extremely difficult problem to treat with all previous modalities providing temporary and short-lived results. CelluSmooth is promising in that it is not only delivering very long-lasting results, but is done with virtually no down time.”
CelluSmooth is pending FDA clearance for cellulite treatment but is cleared for "the surgical incision, excision, vaporization, ablation and coagulation of soft tissue." The advanced CelluSmooth laser technology results in the cutting of fat as well as fibrous tissue, which is the major cause of the lumps and bumps associated with cellulite.
"I have been impressed by the recent research Sciton has performed to advance laser technology for aesthetic treatments and excited to offer my patients the opportunity to participate in this clinical study,” said Dr Nease, a triple-board certified cosmetic surgeon at Southern Surgical Arts.
"It is an honor an privilege to be chosen by an internationally known premier laser company to test their latest research and equipment. This opportunity is only given to a very select few in the country. At SSA we are proud to offer our patients the very latest, as well as tried and true procedures and feel a strong commitment to never stop learning for the community," said Dr. Nease.
Since beginning the clinical study, Dr. Deal and Dr. Nease have performed 10 CelluSmooth procedures in the past 2 months and have seen good results. Ten more participants may qualify to be a part of the study.
At Southern Surgical Arts, Dr. Chad Deal is a double board-certified cosmetic surgeon, and Dr. Carey Nease is a triple board-certified cosmetic surgeon. Both surgeons are certified through the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. Both surgeons are committed to safe quality care, an excellence in cosmetic artistry and have performed more than 7,500 cosmetic surgery procedures in the last 5 years. Their practice is 100% dedicated to cosmetic surgery using the latest technology to provide natural enhancements with minimal scarring and the shortest downtime possible.
